“It Ends With Us” fans needed Justin Baldoni for this story. His emotional intelligence, coupled with his respect for a story about domestic violence, is garnering praise from fans across the internet. Why is Blake Lively avoiding both her costar and the topic?

Let’s start from the beginning.

Blake Lively (‘Gossip Girl,’ ‘A Simple Favor’) is the lead actress in the new movie, “It Ends With Us,” a film adapted from the book of the same name authored by Colleen Hoover. “It Ends With Us” is a love story that includes the sensitive issue of domestic violence (DV). The director of the film, Justin Baldoni (‘ManEnough’ podcast, ‘Jane the Virgin,’ author and activist), also plays a leading role. Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios have released the film. Baldoni and Hoover began communicating about the project in 2019. Lively was cast in 2023.

Rumors and accusations are flying after fans noticed a rift between the cast members at the film’s NYC premiere. Baldoni was noticeably missing from cast photos and sat to watch the premiere in a different theatre while Hoover and Lively introduced the movie to an audience. Some media leaks have suggested that Baldoni’s edit of the film was scrapped, and Lively asked her husband, Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, himself), to help rewrite an alternate ending that producers and Hoover signed off on.
